Instead of taking the trouble to reword my entire application, I am simply copying sections directly from it.

Physical: Severus is tall, with a lanky appearance to him (though he is merely lean, with none of the gracelessness, which was quickly mastered when younger). He has long, greasy black hair to his shoulders, and pale, sallow skin, a result of living in the dungeons. He is, without a doubt, far from physically attractive. He has black eyes, a large (beaked) nose, yellow teeth, and a scowl that is almost always present. He also has the Dark Mark on his left arm, though it is almost always kept covered by his robes. He is imposing, able to strike fear into anyone with a single glance from his cold gaze.

Personality: Severus is a complex man, and many events and emotions have fused together to form the snarky, prickly personality that he wears in public. He is bitter and harsh, especially with people that he doesn't respect and that don't respect him. Because of his position as an outcast while in school, he seemed to believe that he was entitled to respect from all of his students as a professor, and refused to allow any lack of it. He enjoys his position of power, especially over the son of the man who once tormented him and who haunts his worst memory. He has seen the horrors of war, and most likely participated in many of them, which has turned him serious and bitter. Also, as an alumnus of Slytherin House, he is cunning and capable of turning anything to his advantage. Beneath this cold exterior, though, he seems to be a follower, not a leader, and seems to need to place his loyalty in someone stronger than he, for both protection and for his own gain. He follows Voldemort because he knows that power will come to him if he does, and that he will have the freedom to practice and perfect his love for the Dark Arts. He turns, later, to follow Dumbledore for protection from Voldemort, a position of power, and his own self-preservation. After the events at Hogwarts, a new personality emerges, one based on fear, secrets, and hope for survival.
